Deciding

“Human beings absolutely follow through on who they believe they are.”

Tony Robbins, Probable T-Rex Voice Actor Explaining the Importance of Dental Hygiene here

“You have to be fitness. Every person who lost 200 pounds can tell you the moment way back then when they knew they were going to be their ideal weight. That’s the moment it was my ideal weight, I’m going to be that. And then, your body just goes right into it.”

Terry Crews, Human Action Figure, on the Tim Ferriss Podcast

If I could paint, I would paint three images. A morning two years, five years, and ten years from now. Actualizing the future version of myself holds constant tension with the need to live now. It’s a good tension – it’s the reason I go for runs, why I want to learn languages, why I have certain routines. But I also inhale alfajores, watch Netflix in English, and go dancing when I have class the next morning.

Deciding who you’re going to be is also deciding the memories that you will look back on. More importantly, deciding who you’re going to become means understanding you’re already that person. I should give up the street alfajores and maybe start a Spanish Netflix show, but not dancing? What is this, Footloose?

Thanks for taking a sip,

Alejandro
